Theme Parks are the Ultimate Quinceañera Destination
by Michael Kabel

If you're considering places to hold your Quince fiesta, why not give your guests the ultimate? Holding your celebration at a theme park might just be the most fantastic way to commemorate your coming of age ever created. Why shouldn't your guests thrill to amazing roller coasters, exciting games and entertainments, all while celebrating your coming of age?

Theme parks make great backdrops for your celebration, and nearly all offer special group rates for parties. And as the Latin American community comes into its own within American society, some theme parks are even offering specially tailored events and gift packages especially for Quinceanera events. The following lists some theme parks around the country, showing the group packages they have available.

Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom, Orlando FL

Disney quietly unveiled its new Quinceanera gift packages last spring. The gift packages they offer are definitely worth checking into if your budget allows. The $1800 "Reflections of You" package provides, among other things, "decadent desserts" while the IlluminiNations fireworks, laser lights, and pyrotechnics show blazes above Epcot Center's central lagoon. At the top end of the scale, the $20,000 "Belle of the Ball" package offers "floor length linens" and a "sumptuous dinner and dancing that combine traditions old and new." The park offers plans accommodating up to a hundred guests and more.

Quince girls can choose a Cinderella's Castle backdrop, an entrance in a horse drawn, and guest appearances by Disney characters to embellish her fiesta decorations. Arrangements are available through most travel agents, and Disney has a special website for Quince planning: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/special/quinceanera/index?id=QuinceaneraLandingPage.

Six Flags Theme Parks

Six Flags' nationwide assembly of theme parks all but ensures a location close to most Quince girls' hometowns. The parks offer a variety of group rates and catering for special events. Since each park retains its own local color and attractions, however, facilities and pricing vary. Some, such as Six Flags Magic Mountain in Los Angeles, include special birthday facilities like Wascal’s Birthday House especially for birthday celebrations.

Six Flags Over Georgia, located outside Atlanta, GA, includes catered parties in a private picnic area, bringing some laid back charm to the Quince fiesta. Groups of 15-99 people pay just $25 a head, which includes catering and park admission. Many other Six Flags parks nationwide hold similar events, though all limit availability to specific dates throughout the year: http://www.sixflags.com/national/index.aspx.

King’s Dominion, Richmond VA

The sprawling 400-acre King's Dominion hosts some of the country's most elaborate roller coasters, with names like The Anaconda, The Berzerker, and The Hurler; the park grounds also feature a water park and many children's rides, as well. King's Dominion offers a variety of tailored group rates for parties, though a minimum of 15 guests is required. Admissions for groups start at $39.95 per person including catering, though a smaller rate is available for children under four feet tall. Reservations are required three weeks in advance and can be selected through the park’s website: http://www2.cedarfair.com/kingsdominion/#actions.
