For Your Brothers & Sisters, Too!
Sharing your Quinceañera with your siblings
by Michael Kabel

The Quinceañera celebrates your coming of age - it's the event that welcomes you into your family and community as an adult. Whether you're the first person in your family to experience this happy event, or whether you had a sister go before you, the Quinceañera is a special time for everyone.
As you put your Quinceañera plans into motion, your brothers and sisters can provide an awesome resource for helping out with all the details. It's strange, but we don't often realize how much our brothers and sisters share our tastes and attitudes. Because of these common perspectives, they can help make decisions and give us trusted advice.
Listed below are ways your siblings can help you make the best Quinceañera decisions.

Older Sisters
A big sister who's already had her Quinceañera is like having an ace planning expert already in the family. Your older sister(s) has been through the whole experience, including all the ups and downs of planning. You can benefit from what went well during  her Quinceañera - and also what went wrong.
It's sometimes tough to take an older sister's advice, especially on matters that mean a lot to you. But you can still benefit from their wisdom. Ask their advice if you get stuck on a particular detail or item - she'll probably be glad to help out. Don't be afraid of her honest opinion, but don't be afraid to disagree with her, either. The Quinceañera is your time to take the wheel, but big sisters make perfect navigators.

Younger Sisters
Your younger sisters will probably spend at least part of the time leading up to your Quinceañera slowly turning green with envy. You can't blame, them, right? But if you ask, they'll be happy to help you with any number of details. They can help you wrap the guest favors, mail off and address the invitations...any number of things. They're kind of like an assistant that's just standing there, waiting for the call to help.
Something else to consider: your sister will have a Quinceañera of her own someday, and she can benefit from your experience now. That's the kind of cool little sisters never forget.

Older Brothers
Your big brother's probably not the first person you go to for advice on planning your gown or the fiesta decorations, but he can still help in other ways. Big brothers can help you find and make deals on the venue, locate a catering company, and get the best DJ for your money. They can also help you with miscellaneous business decisions, and determining who has the best values on the decorations and fiesta supplies.

Little Brothers
Your little brother can surprise you if you give him a chance. Young boys like to feel a part of something, and they might be honored you've trusted them with helping in the details. And like little sisters, they can help with filling out addresses and getting the decorations they way you want them. On the night of the fiesta, they'll also serve as charming ushers.
