How To Get In Shape for Your Quinceañera

by: Michael Kabel

Of course you want to look your best at your Quinceañera. There's a lot of meaning to the celebration, and you'll probably get your picture taken a hundred times at the fiesta - or it'll just seem like it!

If you're not happy with your weight or with your shape, there's no time like right this very minute (or when you finish this article) to start getting in shape. While the best and most lasting workout regimens take months, starting immediately puts you on the path to looking your best at your debut.

Remember these guidelines are meant to help you. They shouldn't overrule a doctor's advice, and you should check with your doctor before embarking on any course of exercise.

Focus to be fierce.

You should decide first how much weight you want to lose, or if you're just ready to tone up so you look your best in the Quinceañera gown. You've got a lot on your plate already, so don't overdo the fitness routine. On the other hand, don't underdo it, either. Figure out what you expect from yourself, and commit to that goal with everything you've got.

Start at a brisk walking pace.

Do you know the best way to start getting in shape is actually just walking? Getting outside and walking briskly for just 30 minutes, five times a week will build your fat-burning metabolism while helping you feel better, too. As your stamina builds, you'll find you have more energy to handle everyday chores and also all the extra challenges of planning your Quince anos celebration.

Over time, maybe after a month or so, you'll find yourself not as stimulated as you did when you began. That's when it's time to make the walks longer and faster-paced.

Get serious about your diet.

The good news is that eating right can literally add years to your life and make you feel better every day. The bad news is that a healthy diet means avoiding the foods you're probably used to right now.

Most teenagers eat too much fast food and snack foods. These are high in saturated fats and empty calories, both of which lack the nutrients to power the body. Instead, the body turns them directly into fat cells.

Rather than continue eating foods that won't help you get in shape, adjust your diet to include lots of fruits and vegetables rich in vitamins and minerals. Stay away from fried foods as much as possible. We know that's easier said than done, but it will make a difference.

Don't give up easily, and don't coast towards your goal.

It's sometimes frustrating when you don't lose weight as fast as you'd like, but don't give into frustration. Reshaping your body takes time, and it's okay if it doesn't respond like you'd wish it would. Instead of losing faith, promise yourself to see it through to the end.

As your Quinceañera date nears, don't abandon the exercise and diet for other distractions. You'll want to look your best, and that means going the distance, if only to prove to yourself that you can.

Good luck!
