Five Often-Overlooked Beauty Secrets for the Quinceañera
by: Michael Kabel

You've been planning the Quinceañera for months now, right? And you're still figuring out the details? Don't worry. A little healthy stress is a good thing, and the bustle to get everything right is a time to show everyone your new maturity. You can handle your business!

As you plan to get yourself ready, however, don't forget to go head to toe with your makeover and styling – and we mean "head to toe" literally! They say the proof is in the details, and we've got lots of ways to get the finer points down exactly right just below:

Make those caterpillar eyebrows butterfly beautiful.

You've probably given tons of thought to how you'll decorate your eyes, mouth, and cheeks on the night of the big fiesta. Don't forget your eyebrows and lips! A carefully tweezed hair here and there will really brighten up your face and give your features symmetry.

You should probably let your hairstylist handle the tweezing for you. Eyebrow hair takes a really, really long time to grow back, and it's not the kind of thing you want to make a well-meaning mistake about. But the benefits are worth it!

Avoid the agony of the feet.

When your father replaces your girl's shoes with those of a woman, the whole room's going to get a look at your foot. Time for a pedicure!

You can also buy waxes and gels to smooth out your feet's skin, especially around rough and alligator skin-prone areas like the heel, bottom of the little toe, and instep.

As a decorative choice, you should also plan to paint your toenails, at least with some clear polish that'll give your toes some luster under the spotlight.

Don't be afraid to bare your teeth.

You're going to get your picture taken a lot during the Quinceañera fiesta. You'll be laughing a whole lot, too. So, don't forget to take care of your teeth.

Get a professional cleaning a couple of weeks or so before the event, if your budget allows. Actually, dentists recommend getting a good cleaning twice a year. And for teenagers, good dental habits are an absolute necessity. So go ahead and get the cleaning for the fiesta, but enjoy it for the healthy choice you've made for yourself.
Put yourself to sleep the night before.

No matter how exciting the big day is, you still need your beauty rest. Getting a full ten hours sleep the night before the Quinceañera celebration will reduce puffiness in your face and help erase any dark lines under the eyes. It'll even help give your eyes and skin a little sparkle.

Get an early start on getting ready.

We can't stress this one enough. The more rushed anyone feels do anything, the more tempted they'll feel to make compromises and cut corners. And your Quinceañera is too important, too happy an occasion for you to cut corners on yourself.

Get up early after a good night's sleep (see above) and start getting ready several hours in advance. The more time you have, the longer you can take getting everything just right. Feliz Quinceañera!
